What is Teriyaki Chicken?

Teriyaki is a Japanese dish of meat or fish cooked in a sticky-sweet glaze typically made of soy sauce, mirin, and sugar. This dish uses chicken as the main protein, but you could marinate beef, salmon, or even tofu in a teriyaki glaze.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe

It’s a delicious alternative to plain chicken and rice, delivering all the flavour you want while hitting your macros, with 41g of protein for less than 500 cal. Think of it as the best of all worlds — nutritious, flavoursome, and so easy to make.

Can You Meal Prep This Recipe?

Most certainly. In fact, it’s ideal for it. Simply adjust the recipe accordingly and you’re all set with delicious lunches for the week.

Variations and Add-Ins

Beef teriyaki: swap chicken for beef — it pairs wonderfully with teriyaki sauce.

Extra protein: top with a boiled or fried egg for extra flavour and protein.

Make it Vegan

Fear not of missing out plant-based eaters, you can get in on the teriyaki action too. Swap tofu for chicken — it soaks up the sauce beautifully.
