We've all seen workout videos on TikTok. Fitness TikTok or FitTok is an area of TikTok dedicated to fitness tips, tutorials, gym routines, and more. And while some trends are silly and not to be taken too seriously, there are a few fitness trends on the social media platform that are actually useful. Here we're breaking down the latest fitness trends on TikTok that are worth a try.

12-3-30 Treadmill Workout

A fitness trend that gym-goers of all kinds are attempting is the 12-3-30 workout. This workout is done on the treadmill and the numbers stand for 12% incline, 3 miles per hour speed, and 30 minutes. This workout was created by TikTok influencer Lauren Giraldo and the hashtag #12330workout now has over 131 million views on the platform. The workout is surprisingly simple, just set the treadmill according to the 12-3-30 specifications and walk. One reason why the workout may have exploded in popularity is that anyone can do it and it does not require any fancy equipment, just a treadmill. The workout is a great form of low-impact cardiovascular exercise and will improve balance, stamina, and lower body strength. This workout is perfect for beginners just dipping their toes into gym life or for a seasoned gym-goer looking to add some cardio to their routine.

The Under-Desk Treadmill

The next TikTok workout trend is also a treadmill session. An under-desk treadmill or walking pad is basically a more mobile version of a treadmill. An under-desk treadmill is a lighter and more compact treadmill, that can come with or without handlebars. So, why is the under-desk treadmill blowing up on TikTok? Many have begun to use these treadmills while working from home. Yep, you heard that right. People are walking on the treadmill while they work their office jobs- which are no longer in an actual office.

Many are praising under-desk treadmills for their ease and flexibility. You can walk whenever you want throughout the day, and you don't even need to leave your desk. By allowing people to work and walk at the same time, the under-desk treadmill is fighting the negative health effects of remaining sedentary for too long. It is the perfect way for busy professionals to still get their exercise in. And the amount they get in is quite shocking. TikToker Kristen Seninger was able to walk the distance of a full marathon in just one workday while using the #desktreadmill. If that's not successful multitasking, I don't know what is.

Meal Planning

Our final TikTok fitness trend does not actually involve exercise but promotes a healthy diet and lifestyle. We are all familiar with meal planning- preparing your meals, usually for the week, in advance. There are many reasons why people meal plan but the primary one is trying to stick to a specific diet or to improve their general health. Meal planning takes a lot of the stress out of eating healthy and allows you to not have to worry about what to make for your next meal on any given day.

#Mealprep has become quite popular on TikTok, with videos demonstrating people preparing their meals. TikTok creators will show their audience which foods they are using, how long it takes, and how to properly store the food so it doesn't go bad. Meal planning is not new to the fitness world and is actually super helpful for those trying to stick to specific nutrition plans. Many use meal planning to create balanced meals they can grab throughout the week. And with TikTok, more and more are now trying the health hack.

Take Home Message

That's it for the latest FitTok trends. Whether it's the 12-3-30 workout, the under-desk treadmill, or meal planning, you can't wrong with these fitness routines.
