Everyone has a different body type, and while some are able to shed pounds easily, for others it can be a major struggle. You're probably already familiar with the experts' advice for losing fat— exercise and calorie deficit. But if weight loss is your goal and you're still having trouble dropping those last few pounds, we've got some tricks that might help. Myprotein ambassador and fitness trainer Cohnan Kotarski is sharing 5 tips for fat loss that are super simple to implement into your daily routine. Let's check them out.

1. Fill Your Plate with Protein and Veggies

Cohnan advises filling up your plate with more protein and vegetables because it will help you stay fuller for longer. This tip also prevents you from overloading on carbs, which can derail those who are trying to lose weight. Plus, portioning out more protein and veg will get you in the habit of paying attention to your serving sizes. Try mixing up your protein and vegetable selections to keep things interesting and tasty.

2. Stay Active

This might seem like an obvious one, but staying active throughout the day is one of the best things you can do for weight loss. As Cohnan explains, not only will it help you burn calories, but staying active helps distract you from thinking about food and overeating, or eating the wrong foods. He recommends aiming for 10,000 steps a day to get that physical activity in and keep yourself occupied.

3. Drink Lots of Water

Staying hydrated is important for overall health, but it can be an especially useful tool for those trying to lose weight. Drinking lots of water will help reduce your appetite by helping you feel fuller. This will make eating at a calorie deficit a lot easier and help you consume fewer calories overall. Try having a reusable bottle or shaker near you to remind you to drink. Cohnan suggests drinking four liters of water per day.

4. Avoid Drinking Your Calories

According to Cohnan, when trying to lose weight, you should avoid drinking your calories. This means don't use up a large chunk of your calories for the day on beverages. Sugary drinks will not fill you up at all and have no nutritional value. Thus, they can really throw you off when trying to reduce your calorie intake. Instead, opt for a 0-calorie drink if you're craving something sweet and don't want to fall off track.

5. Bonus Tip: Eat Your Meals with a Smaller Spoon

Eating your meals with a smaller spoon may sound silly, but as Cohnan explains, psychologically, it can make eating take longer. This makes it seem like you're eating more than you actually are, which will help you feel fuller quicker, and consume fewer calories.
