'The prodigal son has returned.'

That's how world record-holding endurance swimmer Ross Edgley has described his return to Myprotein.

It's a reunion 15 years in the making, during which time Ross has built an astounding cv in feats of athletic performance.

His ambition shows no signs of ceasing, and Myprotein is delighted to be providing the fuel once more.

In a break during a gym session and visit to Myprotein HQ, Edgley shared:

It's a homecoming. It feels like returning to the motherland... I've gone away, swam around countries, explored the world, learned a lot about sports science, but now the prodigal son returns. That's how it feels. Not a lot has changed, which says a lot about the core values of Myprotein... But the size, it's massive now.

He continued:

I was at Body Power Expo with Myprotein, 2010, 15 years ago, you know. And back then, you know [it was a] small group, passionate group, whereas now it's just an army, you know? It's a global army. You can go anywhere in the world, then you'll look around in any gym, and there'll be somebody with a Myprotein shaker and that feels quite nice.

So while Myprotein has been busy becoming the world's #1 online sports nutrition brand, what has Ross Edgley been up to?

He's set swimming records tumbling, written books, ran ultra-marathons, and there are his iconic shark swims captured on the series 'Shark vs Ross Edgley'.

Now, he's bringing all his expertise to the Myprotein community, and he's got big plans.

Ross Edgley World Records

In 2024, Ross set the world record for the longest non-stop, continuous river swim. He swam the 318 miles (510km) in the cold water of the Yukon River.

The record-breaking attempt lasted 56 hours.

That monumental effort broke new ground in open water swimming.

The British swimmer became the first person to hold simultaneous Guinness World Records for distance swimming in both river and sea.

Longest Staged Sea Swim was knocked off his to-do list in 2018. Edgley will forever be known as the first person to swim around the entirety of mainland Great Britain.

The lad from Grantham, Lincoln completed the mind-blowing 1,780 mile (2,860 km) swim in 157 days.

Ross also dipped his toe in the UK's largest lake (by volume) in 2022. After 52 hours and 39 minutes he was forced to leave the chilly waters — which is putting it mildly as the temperature seldom reaches over 5°C.

The record isn't official, but Ross is the only known person to swim the loch in a wetsuit for more than 52 hours.

In 2023 he swam for 32 hours covering 66 miles (107 km) of Lake Trasimeno, Italy, while 2018 saw Ross swim the length of the English Channel in 30 days. That was over 350 miles (563 km) from Dover to Land's End.

Speed was the key as Ross became the fastest person to swim from Land's End to John o' Groats in just 62 days, covering 900 miles (1,400 km).

What's next? Watch this space.
